Volunteers are required for two year terms for
those positions marked with * * *. Please consider joining the executive
and becoming more involved with the game of Ringette. For a brief
summary of duties, click on each position title.
STATS - Collect game and tournament scores each
weekend and submit these to the media. Submit game scores for
the competitive teams (Petite Level and up) to the Zone 5 statistician.
Mail the white game sheets to the Zone 5 statistician.
PUBLIC RELATIONS / MARKETING
- Promote our sport and Association with local business
to increase interest and awareness. Coordinate activities such
as Ringette Week and Rebels Night. Encourage promotion of “Gym
Ringette” at elementary schools. Coordinate Bunny and Novice “Bring-A-Friend”
events. Periodically forward information articles to the media
(i.e. Friends On Ice Tournament, Ringette Week Activities). This
position is Red Deer Ringette's representative
will attend meetings of the Board created to organize this Day
as well as coordinating Red Deer Ringette's participation in the
actual day.
TOURNAMENT
COORDINATOR - Coordinate Friends on Ice Tournament activities,
including scheduling tournament committee meetings, with the assistance
of the committee that consists of volunteers from each team. Attend
monthly Association meetings to update membership. File final
tournament report with Ringette Alberta. (This may be an ideal
position for two people to volunteer and coordinate together.)
SPONSORSHIP COORDINATOR
- Contact and confirm existing sponsors for upcoming
season and renewal of fees. Solicit new sponsors if necessary.
Approach local business for goods and services as needed throughout
the season. Facilitate communication between teams and the sponsor.
Close to the end of the season, coordinate appreciation ‘gift/plaque'
for sponsors from each team.
COACHING COORDINATOR
***-
Receive coaching applications and complete coaching selection
along with executive. Schedule coaching clinics preferably at
the beginning of the year and monitor continuing education of
our coaches. Set evaluation times for all junior levels and select
teams based on these and other criteria. Schedule evaluation practices
(try outs), drills and scrimmages for selection of competitive
teams. Assist with the coordination of coaches' packages to ensure
inclusion of required information. Note: this
position will be split into two categories: Bunny/Novice and Petite
and up.
ZONE 5 REPRESENTATIVES
*** - Our competitive teams (Petite and up) play in Zone
5 (Black Gold League), which is the area surrounding Edmonton
(Fort Sask., Spruce Grove, Sherwood Park). Meetings are held 8
to 9 months of the season. This is mostly an information gathering
position, sharing the views of our Association with travel expenses
being covered. This position could be shared by two people.
SECRETARY - The
largest part of the job is recording minutes at each of the nine
monthly meetings, typing and distributing these to the membership.
Any correspondence from the Association would also fall into this
position.
TREASURER - Responsible
for banking activities ( Alberta Treasury Branch, Riverside
Branch) of the Association and keep accurate record of all
financial transactions. This includes deposit of registration
fees, accounts payable such as Ringette Alberta and ice bills
to the City of Red Deer. Present a report at each of the
nine monthly meetings. Coordination of budget for the upcoming
season (usually in April or May of each year). Fairly labor intensive
at registration time, but slow and steady the rest of the year.
Access to Excel or a small home bookkeeping program such as Quicken
would be an asset.
VICE PRESIDENT (PRESIDENT
ELECT) - Assume all duties of the President (chair meetings,
public relations, attend conferences) in the event the President
is not able to fulfill these duties. Report for the Treasurer
if the Treasurer is unable to attend the monthly meeting. Record
minutes of the meeting if the Secretary is unable to attend the
monthly meeting. A member of all committees struck by the Association.
Assist Coaching Coordinator when necessary, with coaching and
player selection processes. Tender photographers to take team
pictures and present findings to Executive for review. Provide
practice schedule and coaches' phone numbers to selected photographer.
General knowledge of Red Deer Ringette, Ringette Alberta and Black
Gold League policies.
EQUIPMENT
COORDINATOR - Distribute jerseys and other equipment
at the beginning of each season and record which team has what.
Buy replacement or new equipment as needed, within budget set
by membership or as approved by a resolution of the Association.
Receive returned equipment at the end of each season and note
any losses or deficiencies.
ICE COORDINATOR

- Meet with City of Red Deer and other users in spring
of the year to request ice slots for league play, practice ice
and tournament or Provincials as determined by you and the executive.
Coordinate ice slot distribution with Black/Gold League, Intermediate/Deb
League, Ladies League and Zone 4 Bunny/Novice League. Assign practice
ice slots for the season. Distribute copies of game and practice
schedules to all coaches.
REGISTRAR
- Receive registration forms and fees from the post office mailbox
(Canada Post outlet on north end of City) , the City
Rec Department and hand deliveries. Check for correct completion
of registration form and request missing information. Enter registration
information on spreadsheet/data base for Ringette Alberta. Balance
fees received with registrations received. Turn money over to
Treasurer for deposit. Request second payments in October. Follow-up
on non-payments, NSF cheques, etc. Provide player lists to coaching
coordinator in mid-September for team evaluations. Provide information
as requested to Association Executive.
DIRECTOR
OF PLAYER DEVELOPMENT - Set standards for each level
for 2 and 4 months and end of the season for skating and playing.
Assemble and distribute to coaches a book of plays and drills
to achieve the above standards. Update and re-distribute with
new drills and plays as contributed throughout the year by RDRA
members. Act as resource for coaches experiencing difficulty,
to assist with demonstration and implementation by director or
designates.
PRESIDENT
- Spokesperson for Red Deer Ringette. Chairperson at
Association meetings; prepare written agenda; maintain order;
signing authority for all cheques issued by the Association; attend
or be represented at Zone 4 meetings and Ringette Alberta General
meetings.
REFEREE
COORDINATOR ***-
Coordinate Referee Clinics with Ringette Alberta when
required. Insure all referees are certified. Schedule officials
for home games and Friends on Ice Tournament. Liaison between
referees and coaching director and executive committee. Submit
required information to treasurer for payment of referees and
coordinate distribution of referees' pay.
ZONE
4 REPRESENTATIVE - Represent
interests and concerns of all local associations to Ringette Alberta
(Lacombe, Red Deer, Wetaskiwin) and vice-versa.
